The reason behind MFD
Why I built MFD.
One thing I've learned throughout my career is that many municipal IT departments operate with limited staffing. The responsibilities are extensive, but the resources available to address them aren't always.
When I began reviewing the Department of Justice's updated digital accessibility requirements, I was struck by the amount of work facing public organizations.
Many agencies have accumulated years of publicly available documents. Identifying those documents, evaluating their accessibility, and determining where to begin improvements can be an enormous undertaking.
I recognized that some organizations might not even know where to start.
That's why I created Municipal Form Doctor.
A starting point, not another obstacle.
I personally designed and developed Municipal Form Doctor to help public organizations take that first step.
The service inventories publicly discoverable documents, evaluates indicators of accessibility readiness, and provides a report identifying potential concerns and prioritizing documents for further review.
Municipal Form Doctor is not an ADA compliance certification tool, nor does it replace comprehensive accessibility testing or document remediation.
Instead, its purpose is to give organizations a clearer picture of their public documents and a practical starting point for improving accessibility.
My hope is simple: to help municipalities, libraries, and other public agencies spend less time figuring out where to begin and more time making meaningful improvements.
